Job summary

RTX invites a dedicated student to join our co-op program in Rockford, IL, focusing on fuel and oil pump development. This full‑time internship offers hands-on engineering exposure, collaboration with senior engineers, and opportunities to contribute to pump design and field investigations.

You will engage in RCCA activities, CFD analyses, and customer-support tasks while developing CAD skills and learning to interpret technical drawings and specs.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience using MATLAB, CAD, NX, and/or AutoCAD.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Provide Engineering support and ownership for the Fuel and Oil pump product line in support of new development pump design efforts and production/fielded pump programs
• Support lead design engineers in performance of CFD analysis in support of new pump designs and field investigations
• Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts to identify causes and mitigation plans for issues affecting pump program productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction
• Provide customer support for Field Failure investigations
• Resolve Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs) by providing clarifications and processing Change Requests (CRs)
