Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Laporte, IN, on-site aerospace tooling engineer position seeks a candidate to own dimensional integrity for an investment cast parts portfolio. You will design tooling, fixtures, gauges and inspection plans to meet customer specs and lead cost-reduction and scrap-improvement initiatives.

Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s program and eligible to work in the U.S.; Six Sigma certification and experience in investment casting are preferred.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program before hire date.
• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.
• Access to export-controlled items; employment offers conditioned on eligibility.
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
• Experience working in Investment Casting preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures dimensional integrity of an investment cast parts portfolio; designs tooling, fixtures, gauges and inspection plans to meet customer specs.
• Leads continuous improvement to reduce costs, scrap and rework and improve efficiency.
• Investigates root causes of external customer escapes and implements corrective actions.
• Prepares dimensional qualification packages per customer requirements.
• Participates in design reviews and NPI meetings; supports BOM and routings.
