Job summary

RTX is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Producibility Engineer I to join the Onsite team in Tucson, AZ. You will support design, development, and transition-to-production of defense/aerospace products, collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to optimize manufacturability and cost.

You will assess designs for manufacturability, drive improvements to production processes, and work on risk identification and mitigation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related STEM major obtained by start date.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and models.
• Experience applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) or Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.

Responsibilities

• Partner with design engineering teams to ensure products meet manufacturing requirements.
• Conduct producibility assessments, design reviews, and risk identification early in the lifecycle.
• Review drawings and specifications for clarity and manufacturability.
• Perform process capability evaluations, tolerance analyses, and manufacturability trade studies.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs and improve yield.
• Collaborate with suppliers to validate tooling concepts and workflows.
• Participate in root-cause investigations for production issues.
• Support transition-to-production activities including pilot builds and first article inspections.
• Maintain documentation in Engineering and Manufacturing systems.
