Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking an entry level Mechanical Producibility Engineer I to optimize design for manufacturability and drive cost reductions. You will work with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams across the product lifecycle.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, participation in producibility assessments, and transition-to-production activities within a defense/aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Must have or be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace or related STEM field by start date.
• Experience reading/interpreting engineering drawings and models.
• Experience applying DFM or DFA principles.

Responsibilities

• Partner with design engineering to meet manufacturing/assembly/integration requirements.
• Conduct producibility assessments, design reviews, and early risk identification.
• Review drawings/specifications for clarity and manufacturability.
• Perform process capability evaluations, tolerance analyses, and manufacturability trade studies.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve yield, and streamline processes.
• Collaborate with suppliers to validate tooling concepts and workflows.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions for production issues.
• Support transition-to-production activities, including pilot builds and first article inspections.
• Maintain documentation in Engineering and Manufacturing systems.
