Job summary

SST Direct is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer for its advanced aerospace manufacturing operations in Manchester, CT. The role focuses on optimizing production processes, improving machining operations, and supporting development of new and existing aerospace components.

You will work closely with the engineering team to solve complex manufacturing challenges, develop tooling solutions, and drive improvements in production efficiency, quality, and capacity on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of aerospace manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
• Degree in engineering, metallurgy, or materials science preferred.
• Machining or CNC manufacturing background strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100D quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes for new and existing aerospace components.
• Research customer specifications, manufacturing requirements, and new process technologies.
• Troubleshoot shop floor processes, tooling, and equipment to resolve production issues.
• Design tooling and fixtures for new products and improve existing manufacturing processes.
• Create engineering drawings and operation sheets for new parts.
• Collaborate with customers, machine operators, vendors, and internal engineering teams.
• Review and implement manufacturing drawings and engineering change notices.
• Evaluate product specifications and technical data to determine manufacturing feasibility.
• Analyze production data and reports to verify designs meet specifications and quality requirements.
• Reduce waste and improve production capacity, efficiency, and consistency through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply structured problem‑solving, setup reduction, process standardization, mistake‑proofing, and tooling optimization techniques.
