Job summary

Vaupell in Everett, WA is seeking a Paint Prep Operator for a full-time, on-site role. The position involves preparing aerospace parts for painting, following lean practices, and ensuring parts are clean and ready for coating.

Responsibilities include inspecting parts, maintaining paperwork, applying putty where needed, masking, and adhering to MSDS, safety, and PPE requirements. A high school diploma or GED is required with 6 months to 1 year paint experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months to one year of paint experience preferred.
• Ability to use a computer for basic Microsoft Office functions (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow Lean Manufacturing and 6s practices.
• Visually inspect parts prior to painting and report defects.
• Ensure parts are clean and ready for painting.
• Review work orders and maintain paperwork.
• Prepare parts with tools (sandpaper, electric sander) to achieve specified finish.
• Prepare putty mix for non-conforming areas.
• Read and interpret current specifications and call outs.
• Mask/unmask parts as required and maintain PPE usage.
• Follow hazardous chemical handling procedures and MSDS requirements.
• Maintain safe working area and report improvement opportunities.
