Aerospace Outsource Manufacturing Lead

Job summary

Axiom Space seeks an Outsource Manufacturing Coordinator to manage outsourced fabrication and test support from RFQ to receipt of goods. This on-site role reports to the Production Planning Manager and is based at our SSDF facility.

You will lead vendor sourcing, translate drawings into work packages, ensure AS9100/ISO 9001 compliance, monitor lead times, drive on-time delivery, and coordinate with production planning to scale outsourcing while protecting IP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and/or 5 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, and/or production.
• Experience in machining practices.
• Knowledge of procurement practices and methods.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, models, and requirement documentation.
• Experience with Project Management methodologies is strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges.
• Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high quality results.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact between Axiom and its vendor base and foster long-term relationships.
• Collaborate with outside vendors to coordinate quotes, deliveries and related deliverables.
• Translate engineering and manufacturing requirements into clear work packages for vendor execution.
• Identify and evaluate third-party manufacturers, sub-contractors, and service providers in aerospace components and processes.
• Ensure all potential partners hold AS9100/ISO 9001 certifications and meet aerospace standards.
• Generate, submit, and monitor RFQ documentation.
• Minimize supply chain risk through strategic sourcing.
• Protect IP and handle proprietary information.
• Collaborate with Production Planning to forecast outsourcing capacity needs.
• Monitor vendor lead times and drive on-time delivery for the Master Production Schedule.
• Communicate project progress and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
