Job summary

Socket.dev in Wisconsin is seeking a Multi‑Axis Laser Technician to operate advanced laser systems and support aerospace manufacturing. You will set up, run, and monitor machines across multiple axes to cut, drill, and process precise components used in mission‑critical programs.

You will read engineering sketches, inspect parts with calipers and CMM reports, adjust parameters, perform troubleshooting, and uphold AS9100/NADCAP quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with laser systems (Fiber, YAG, CO2) or CNC background with on‑the‑job training.
• Comfort with CNC interfaces, G-code, or automated motion platforms.
• Ability to read sketches, follow work instructions, and meet tight tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor multi-axis laser machines for cutting, drilling, marking, or trimming sheet metal components and finished goods.
• Read and interpret engineering sketches, job routers, and process control sheets.
• Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, CMM reports, and visual inspection.
• Adjust machine parameters, align optics, load programs, and verify beam quality.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on lasers, motion systems, and fixturing.
• Maintain production records and follow aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP).
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to solve problems and pursue continuous improvement.
• Follow all laser safety and general manufacturing safety procedures.
• Maintain machine performance through routine cleaning and preventative maintenance.
