Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a resilient Mechanical Technician for our SSDF facility in Georgia. You will fabricate, assemble, and maintain Ground Support Equipment and facility hardware, interfacing with engineers and technicians, and reporting to the PTS Manager.

Multiple levels may be filled. Daily duties include reading engineering drawings, setting up precision tools, fabricating and inspecting components, operating lifting equipment, and ensuring cleanroom and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience in general aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication (clean room experience desired).
• Proven ability to read engineering drawings and interpret assembly instructions.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering models, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and assembly prints.
• Mentor less experienced technicians.
• Operate machines and use hand/power tools.
• Set up and use precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
• Assemble and inspect spacecraft mechanical, electrical, and fluid components from drawings and specs.
• Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes).
• Collaborate with engineers to document work instructions and procedures.
• Maintain clean room and safety guidelines; minimize FOD.
