Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a resilient Mechanical Technician for the SSDF facility to fabricate, assemble, and maintain ground support equipment and spaceflight hardware. This role interfaces with engineers and technicians, requiring attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years in aerospace manufacturing or related hands-on roles, with experience reading engineering drawings and operating precision tools.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or related certification preferred.
  • 5–10 years in aviation or aerospace with test, flight, and safety critical hardware.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication; clean room experience desired.
  • GSE operation experience and familiarity with pressure systems helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering models, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Mentor less experienced technicians and collaborate with engineers.
  • Operate machines and use hand/power tools; setup precision instruments.
  • Assemble, install, and inspect spacecraft mechanical, electrical, and fluid components.
  • Perform routine maintenance and ensure safety, cleanliness, and reduced FOD.
  • Document activities and develop assembly work instructions with teams.
