Job summary

AeroVironment invites motivated students to join our 12‑week Summer Internship Program in Petaluma, CA, working onsite with the UAS product line. The role focuses on mechanical design, CAD modeling, and hands-on development in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Applicants must be enrolled in a college program or be recent graduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Relocation/housing stipends may be available depending on the team and location.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Exposure to prototyping, lab testing, or mechanical assembly.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design of mechanical components and systems (airframes, payload enclosures, launch systems).
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Support simulation/analysis tasks with SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Participate in prototype fabrication and testing using in-house tools (3D printing).
• Generate technical drawings and BOMs per industry standards.
• Collaborate with engineers on design reviews and tests.
• Learn configuration control and engineering change processes.
