Job summary

Astronics Advanced Electrical Systems seeks a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 at the Kirkland, WA site. You will work under mentorship to design, analyze, and test aerospace power systems in the Cabin Electronics Product Group.

The role emphasizes hands-on prototyping, lab testing, and cross-functional collaboration with experienced engineers. Responsibilities include designing components, performing tests, and using SolidWorks/ANSYS tools.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university with at least three years completed by Summer 2027.
• Pursuing Mechanical Engineering or related field with CFD/thermal dynamics focus preferred.
• Experience in PCB design and cooling for electronics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prototype design solutions using in-house 3D printing and bench CNC.
• Test hardware and evaluate performance to support design objectives.
• Design components from detailed concepts provided by the team.
• Use SolidWorks, Flow Simulation, and ANSYS for analysis and validation.
