Inversion in Playa Vista, CA, seeks a Mechanical Engineer Intern to contribute to hardware development for cutting-edge reentry vehicles. You will work with experienced engineers to move flight hardware from concept to testable form, across CAD design, analysis, and assembly.

You will participate in all lifecycle stages from CAD drawings to procurement, testing, and vehicle integration while reporting to the Director of Mechanical.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering.
• Strong hands-on engineering interest demonstrated via coursework, projects, internships, or research.
• Fundamental engineering principles in statics, materials, machine design, heat transfer, and materials properties.

Responsabilités

• Support design and development of mechanical systems (brackets, enclosures, mechanisms, tooling, test equipment).
• Create and revise 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and bills of materials.
• Perform engineering analysis using first-principles calculations, hand analysis, and FEA.
