Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Aerospace

Job Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5–7 years of aerospace experience to support the design, analysis, testing, and certification of an innovative electric taxiing system for commercial aircraft.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SolidWorks, FEA, GD&T, aircraft systems integration, and mechanical design, along with hands‑on experience supporting testing and troubleshooting. This role will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, testing, quality, suppliers, and regulatory teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, brackets, mounts, and assemblies for aircraft systems and installations.
- Create 3D models and 2D production drawings using SolidWorks and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Perform FEA, hand calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and structural margin analysis.
- Design and route hydraulic, coolant, fluid lines, and electrical harnesses.
- Select appropriate fittings, fasteners, and installation hardware.
- Develop and perform pressure, functional, environmental, and other hardware tests.
- Support RTCA DO-160 testing and aircraft/rig testing.
- Troubleshoot aircraft integration issues and develop design improvements.
- Prepare installation procedures, work instructions, engineering reports, and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA).
- Maintain traceable, configuration‑controlled engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Support FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) activities, including compliance checklists, test plans, and type design data.
- Coordinate with FAA representatives, DERs, and ODAs as required.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers on design for manufacturing and first article inspections.
- Support compliance with 14 CFR Part 25, AS9100, and applicable aerospace standards.
- Participate in a fast‑paced, early‑stage engineering environment and take ownership of assigned projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of aerospace engineering experience in aircraft systems design and analysis.
- Minimum 3 years of SolidWorks experience.
- Minimum 3 years of FEA experience.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5.
- Ability to read and create engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience with aircraft systems integration, including hydraulic systems, fluid/coolant lines, and electrical cable routing.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, materials, fasteners, and aerospace hardware.
- Experience with installation and testing of aerospace hardware, pressure vessels, and fittings.
- Ability to work onsite in Dallas / Plano, TX.
- Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR (22 CFR 120.62).
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience supporting FAA STC or Type Certificate (TC) programs.
- Experience working with DERs or ODAs.
- Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 and related FAA advisory circulars.
- Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, AS9100, ARP4754A, ARP4761, MIL-STD, or ASME standards.
- Experience with landing gear, actuation, mechanisms, or electromechanical systems.
- Experience with aircraft retrofits, aftermarket aerospace, or MRO environments.
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
