Job summary

TSC is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to support work at the Naval Research Laboratory, with responsibility for aerospace structures and mechanisms. The role requires hands-on aerospace hardware experience and expertise in CAD tooling and design standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years of proven aerospace mechanical design experience.
  • Direct experience with aerospace hardware design and standards.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (Siemens NX preferred).
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, analyzes, and directs the integration of structural components and mechanical assemblies for advanced space or air platforms
  • Creates detailed 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings
  • Collaborates with Integration and Test teams to oversee component assembly
  • Author test plans, design specialized test fixtures, and participate in hardware verification campaigns, including vibration, shock, and thermal-vacuum and/or altitude testing
