Job summary

Hydra Electric Company is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design, validate, and sustain pressure and temperature sensing products for aerospace applications. You will work with electromechanical systems, material properties, and tolerance analyses to meet performance and manufacturability goals.

The role requires familiarity with RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810/461, and AS9100; design documentation experience; and collaboration with customers, engineers, and production teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering is required.
  • 2+ years mechanical design experience in aerospace or related field preferred.
  • MS in engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience designing or developing pressure, temperature, or similar sensing devices preferred.
  • AS9100 procedures familiarity required.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks and reading engineering drawings/ GD&T.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in development of new pressure and temperature sensors from concept through production release.
  • Review requirements to define project inputs and compliance matrices for traceability.
  • Design mechanical elements including material selection, process selection, and tolerance analysis.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on electromechanical interfaces and thermal considerations.
  • Generate design records, drawings, models, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Support PPAP, APQP activities, and cross-departmental documentation.
  • Troubleshoot on production floor and implement continuous improvements.
  • Prepare documentation and presentations interfacing with customers and teams.
