Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer (Level 2 or 3) for Edwards AFB, CA, with routine Palmdale assignments. Focus on testing and participation across research, design, analysis, manufacture, and verification of aircraft Support Equipment.

Position requires flexibility: 4x10 shifts, travel to sites, and CAD proficiency (NX/Pro/E/CATIA). Level 2/3 criteria apply based on experience and education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in STEM with 2 years of engineering experience or Master in STEM with 0 years.
• CAD drawings generation for manufacturing of mechanical/electrical assemblies.
• Active US Secret clearance (with background investigation within 6 years).
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance in a reasonable time.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and conduct test operations of manufactured Support Equipment on and off aircraft.
• Align test targets with flight test organization, NGAS test team, RE, and on-site customers.
• Provide engineering assessment and test results to support equipment management and customer briefings.
• Mechanical design of test, measurement, and handling equipment used on military aircraft.
• Gather data, develop requirements, interface with suppliers, and perform basic stress analysis.
• Act as manufacturing liaison during build to ensure quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Develop test plans and perform environmental testing of Support Equipment.
• Use CAD tools for mechanical design and create drawings to GD&T standards.
