Job summary

RTX is seeking a developing Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Fire & Overheat Linear Detection group in Wilson, North Carolina. You will participate in development, modification, integration, qualification, production, and field support of detectors for military and commercial use.

You will work with existing and new designs, define drawings, test, evaluate, and prepare data packages while collaborating with various engineering and operations teams. Travel ~5%.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with mechanical assemblies, drawings, weldments, and GD&T.
• Ability to interpret design data, create drawings, and produce documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify mechanical hardware and assemblies.
• Support test, qualification, certification, and production activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability.
• Prepare design drawings, change requests, and redlines.
• Travel as necessary ~5%.
