Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking an Aeromechanical Engineering Intern to contribute to the design, prototyping, and testing of airframe structures for UAV systems. You will work with experienced engineers on real projects and gain hands-on exposure to 3D CAD modeling, analysis, and documentation.

The role offers an immersive, full-time-like experience in a summer internship that collaborates across teams, with opportunities to learn materials, trade-offs, and integration in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience with CAD tools and 3D modeling is a plus.
• Understanding of statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing airframe structures and aeromechanical components for UAV systems.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Support basic mechanical analysis with guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in prototype fabrication, 3D printing, and lab testing.
• Help create and revise engineering drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
• Contribute to technical presentations and informal design reviews.
• Learn about design trade-offs, material selection, and integration with multi-disciplinary systems.
• Support design improvements and troubleshooting on current programs.
• Perform other duties to support engineering goals.
