Job summary

Join AeroVironment for a 12-week Summer Internship Program in Manufacturing Engineering. As an intern you will support designing and operating manufacturing systems for AV Unmanned Air Vehicles, under experienced engineers.

You’ll help analyze processes, apply Lean and Six Sigma, and contribute to continuous improvement and production support. Open to current college students or recent graduates with a 3.0+ GPA; relocation/housing stipend may be available depending on team and location.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical engineering.
• Experience with manufacturing, process improvement or quality control.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; CAD/Minitab/Visio a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supporting and improving manufacturing processes for efficiency and quality.
• Help implement Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methods.
• Analyze production data (yields, capacity, cost) to identify improvements.
• Document standard work hours, sequences, and assembly procedures.
• Create and update work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
• Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving across materials, design, and equipment.
• Support capacity planning and factory layout design for efficiency.
• Assist in cost estimation for tooling and equipment.
• Collaborate with design teams on DFM and reliability analysis.
• Participate in cross-functional improvement projects with engineering and suppliers.
• Support DFMEA and PFMEA activities and provide manufacturing input to concepts.
