Job summary

Ontic is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Chatsworth, CA to support production, troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvement across engineering, production and quality. You will translate designs into robust manufacturing methods and lead tooling and process development for new products.

The role requires 5+ years in aerospace/manufacturing and the ability to travel ~50% for 18 months. Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering is preferred and SolidWorks is a key tool.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years manufacturing engineering experience with electromechanical products.
• 5+ years aerospace manufacturing, planning and fabrication experience with motors, actuators, pumps, valves or similar.
• Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for precision aerospace components.
• Experience reading/measuring mechanical drawings and GD&T.
• Practical troubleshooting and production problem-solving skills.
• Experience collaborating across Engineering, Production, Quality, customers and suppliers.
• Willingness to travel ~50% for 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering support to production, troubleshooting issues to minimize disruption.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Translate drawings, specifications and changes into manufacturing methods, tooling and processes.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing plans, work instructions and BOMs for new/modified products.
• Design assembly and test tooling and fixtures using SolidWorks to support production.
• Lead manufacturing engineering activities for new product introductions and transitions to production.
• Support engineering changes and participate in MRB to resolve nonconforming material.
• Travel ~50% for the next 18 months to support needs.
