Job summary

FMI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering team in Maine. You will support current production systems to improve safety, quality, reliability, cost and cycle time, focusing on carbon/carbon composites production and high-temperature processes.

The role involves design and optimization of equipment, data-driven root-cause analyses, and collaboration with Production and Maintenance using Lean/Six Sigma methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years in manufacturing.
• Strong problem solving and project coordination in a production environment.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
• Excellent written and spoken communication; MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and develop new equipment for future production systems.
• Perform root cause analysis for failure investigations and data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Production and Maintenance to troubleshoot and improve equipment and processes using Lean and MRL standards.
• Utilize engineering tools such as BOM refinement, Design Reviews, PFMEAs, IQ/OQ, Value Stream Maps, and GD&T.
• Provide technical support for a 7x24 manufacturing facility in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Prepare Engineering documents such as ECOs, manufacturing procedures and manuals, and initial production travelers.
• Support non-conformance program and implement preventive actions.
• Present progress and results to management and customers.
• Ensure health and safety policies are followed and certify compliance with certification requirements.
