Job description

Job Overview & Responsibilities

This position is for an Aerospace Maintenance Technician located at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The member of the Launch Operations team will be responsible for checkout, maintenance, repair, refurbishment, calibration, troubleshooting, and operation of mission-critical systems throughout their lifecycle, including ground support, structural-mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical/power, fluid control/management, and environmental control/HVAC systems.

Responsibilities Include:
  1. Utilize general knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety procedures.
  2. Demonstrate increased skill level in electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  3. Use blueprints or design specifications to install or repair electrical systems.
  4. Maintain, install, and repair electrical primary power distribution systems.
  5. Perform tests on electrical breakers during routine maintenance and replace or retrofit as required.
  6. Assist other trades as needed.
  7. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  8. Use hand and power tools to maintain and repair launch vehicle processing and support systems.
  9. May receive specialized equipment training as required.
  10. Travel to other ULA locations as necessary.

This position is represented by the International Association of Machinists (IAM), with employment terms defined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Required Education

High School/GED

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 6 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in HVAC or Environmental Control Systems (ECS), troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing equipment such as air handlers, pumps, motors, valves, heating systems.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Monitoring pressures and temperatures, ensuring mechanical systems operate efficiently, and responding to emergency repairs.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb and work at heights.
  • Flexible schedule including overtime and second/third shifts as needed.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HVAC Journeyman, Contract, or Master license.
