Job summary

IRPI LLC is seeking an Engineering Technician to be the hands-on backbone of our lab, turning designs into physical hardware. You will build test rigs, assemble engineering units, run 3D printing post-processing, and maintain lab equipment, contributing to NASA and commercial space hardware testing.

Qualifications

  • Read and work from engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and CAD models.
  • Proficient with common hand and power tools and precision measurement tools.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, fasteners, torque specs, and precision hardware.
  • Familiar with 3D printing and post-processing workflows; quick learner.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation habits.
  • Able to work independently while coordinating with engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, and modify test rigs and experimental setups under engineer supervision.
  • Fabricate mechanical assemblies from drawings and CAD models.
  • Operate laser ablation manufacturing equipment, including setup and quality checks.
  • Post‑process 3D-printed parts (support removal, curing, finishing) for FDM/SLA.
  • Perform routine maintenance on lab, shop, and test equipment; troubleshoot issues.
  • Support engineers during test campaigns: setup, instrumentation, teardown.
  • Maintain an organized, safe lab/shop and track consumables and tooling.
  • Document builds, maintenance, and as‑built configurations clearly.
  • Flag design or manufacturability issues and suggest practical improvements.
