Job summary

IRPI LLC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to anchor mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems across active NASA and commercial space programs. You will own design, analysis, testing, and flight integration, guiding junior engineers and ensuring robust hardware suitable for flight.

This role emphasizes hands-on prototyping, test execution, and clear technical communication, with escalation of complex issues and balanced program priorities. US citizenship required for export-controlled work.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
  • 7+ years designing, analyzing, and testing mechanical and thermal-fluid systems.
  • End-to-end ownership from design through test and flight or qualification.
  • Expert-level proficiency with SolidWorks and manufacturing drawings.
  • Strong communication and mentoring abilities; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, analysis, and test of mechanical, thermal, and fluid subsystems.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, review designs and tests, and share reasoning.
  • Lead trade studies, drive decisions through PDR/CDR to flight.
  • Produce SolidWorks models, assemblies, drawings, and enforce configuration control.
  • Plan and execute test campaigns, write procedures, analyze data, and report conclusions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers/fabricators and maintain BOMs for builds.
  • Serve as technical contact with NASA and partners during reviews.
  • Contribute to IRPI’s culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
