Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Hardware in the Loop Lab Technician to support fabrication, instrumentation, and testing of new aerospace products. The role focuses on assembling air vehicle systems, installing sensors, and maintaining lab equipment in a dynamic setting.

You will work with aerospace-grade materials, read engineering drawings, and perform mechanical testing while ensuring safety and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in aircraft or lab maintenance and prototype fabrication.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and CAD-related instructions.
• Experience with machine shop operations, including manual and CNC tools.
• Experience with hydraulic actuators, pumps, fluids, load frames, and DAQ systems.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in shop/lab environments with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals.
• Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Construct and assemble air vehicle systems and subsystems per drawings, instructions, and CAD models.
• Install sensors, strain gauges, thermocouples, and route cabling according to schematics.
• Fabricate fixtures, machine brackets, and modify prototype hardware as needed.
• Conduct mechanical testing with static and dynamic loads per procedures.
• Document test outcomes and report anomalies or irregularities promptly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace across shop and lab areas.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in instrumentation standards and fabrication workflows.
