Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector in Goleta, CA is seeking a Flight Inspector – Level 2 to join our team onsite on a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

The role involves inspecting spacecraft components, using caliper, micrometer, comparator, and CMM, and making acceptance decisions based on drawings and specifications. US citizenship is required; travel to suppliers and sites is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
• No clearance required to start
• Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools
• Knowledge of GD&T with the ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications and related criteria
• US Citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products.
• Perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional, etc.) on spacecraft components.
• Uses various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine.
• This job has decision-making responsibilities with regards to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.
• Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub-assemblies. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.
• Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
• Work from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
• Other duties as assigned
