Job summary

AMES is seeking an experienced engineering leader to head an integrated team delivering structural, mechanical, electrical, and powerplant repair services for aircraft. You will review damage assessments, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain FAA AD awareness while coordinating with customers and designees.

You will drive business growth through proposals and partnerships, mentor staff, and set KPIs to align engineering output with strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Program or project management experience with strategic planning capabilities.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of combined airline, MRO, or OEM engineering experience.
  • Experience interfacing with the FAA (or designees) on engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership with strong team-building and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills for all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and external organizations.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills to prioritize and coordinate workloads.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and related tools.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or a comparable drafting application.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in managing an engineering team delivering repair services for aircraft and components.
  • Review damage assessments and repair designs for regulatory compliance and FAA ADs/OEM Service Bulletins.
  • Serve as engineering liaison to the FAA, designees, and aircraft customers.
  • Support growth through business development, proposals, and partnerships.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and guidance to engineering staff.
  • Establish KPIs and goals aligning engineering work with company objectives.
  • Drive process improvements for the engineering department and Airborne organization.
