Job summary

Spirit Defense, a Boeing company unit, invites motivated students to join the 2027 summer intern program in Wichita, KS. You will work on Core Engineering - Research & Technology projects, with mentors guiding real-world aerospace challenges and hands-on experience in manufacturing, prototyping and data analysis.

Applicants must be enrolled in a ABET-accredited four-year engineering program and be available full-time in Summer 2027.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a four‑year undergraduate or graduate ABET‑accredited engineering program
Ability to work full‑time during Summer 2027

Responsibilities

Core Engineering - Research & Technology. Spirit Defense Research & Technology teams explore, develop, and mature new manufacturing and engineering technologies for defense and space applications. Interns may support the broader R&T activities involving advanced manufacturing, automation, materials/processes, prototyping, experimentation, data analysis, and technology demonstrations.
Potential internship assignments may include:
Advanced manufacturing and process‑development projects
Prototype development, experimentation, and technology demonstrations
Automation, digital manufacturing, and data‑driven improvement
Technical research, trade studies, testing, and documentation
These positions are expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Wichita, KS.
