Job summary

Superior Metals Manufacturing in Chittenango, NY seeks a Summer 2027 Engineering Intern to support aerospace superalloy manufacturing. You’ll work with the engineering team to collect data, create clear work instructions, and help improve processes on the shop floor through hands-on projects.

Applicants must be pursuing a Mechanical, Electrical (Automation), Metallurgical, Materials, or Chemical degree with at least two years of coursework. On-site, pay is $22–$25/hr for a Summer term.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a relevant engineering degree with at least two years of coursework.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and eagerness to learn.
• Clear communication and ability to collaborate with engineers and shop floor personnel.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute ideas.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk part of the day.
• Motivation to apply engineering knowledge to real-world manufacturing challenges.

Responsibilities

• Work with Engineers: Assist with data collection, process trials, and developing new methods to improve operations.
• Analyze & Document: Review and summarize test results, maintaining meticulous records for easy review.
• Continuous Improvement: Support our drive for excellence by finding internal and external opportunities for process optimization.
• Collaborate with Shop Floor Teams: Help create routings and process instructions, ensuring they are clear and up-to-date.
• Technical Writing: Prepare reports and technical notes to document process improvements and solutions to challenges.
• Critical Thinking: Use your problem-solving skills to assist with root cause analysis and process improvements.
