Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer II to develop and integrate embedded Linux software for aerospace communications and defense systems. You will work under guidance on software design, implementation, testing, and qualification for Linux-based platforms.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams, board bring-up, kernel customization, and Yocto-based build systems to deliver reliable embedded solutions.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Knowledge of embedded Linux systems and software development practices.
• Experience developing device drivers, embedded applications, or low-level system software.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel configuration and customization; bootloader functionality and system initialization.
• Experience using Yocto or similar embedded Linux build systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot embedded software issues using debugging and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and port embedded Linux applications, device drivers, and software libraries for embedded platforms.
• Configure and integrate Linux kernels and embedded bootloaders (e.g., U-Boot).
• Assist with board bring-up and software enablement for new hardware platforms.
• Maintain tailored Linux distributions for embedded applications.
• Contribute to software design, testing, and qualification activities throughout the lifecycle.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and build systems for automated software builds and releases.
• Document engineering findings and decisions per program standards.
