Amca in El Segundo, CA, is offering an Electrical Design Engineering Internship for Winter/Spring 2027. You will work with our electrical team to take aerospace hardware from concept toward flight qualification under a dedicated mentor, with access to build and test engineers who will bring your work to life.

This is a hands-on internship where your schematics and boards are reviewed with the same rigor as a full-time engineer.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in electrical engineering or related field and returning to school in Fall 2027.
• Returning to school in Fall 2027 or graduating Spring 2027 and returning after internship.
• Full-time, in-person 10-week internship in Winter/Spring 2027 in El Segundo.
• Completed coursework in circuits, electronics, or signals with understanding of power, filtering, and logic.
• Hands-on electrical design experience through coursework or projects.
• Familiarity with test equipment and test automation.

Responsibilities

• Design electronics from concept to functional prototype, including hardware selection, PCB design, and system-level integration.
• Contribute to the design and prototyping of new electrical hardware.
• Support electrical design for flight hardware, including schematic capture, electrical analysis, component selection, and PCBA layout.
• Build up early hardware, then iterate quickly based on results.
• Run bench testing and basic functional tests on the hardware you build.
• Debug failures down to root cause and carry the fix back into the design.
• Troubleshoot issues that span the system, using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and DMMs.
• Select components with de-rating, tolerance, and availability, and defend choices in design review.
• Work with electrical, mechanical, software, and test engineers to deliver fully functional products.
• Work with test engineering to define and execute functional, environmental, and EMI test plans.
• Incorporate manufacturability and testability feedback from build engineers into your systems.
• Help evaluate existing Amca designs for opportunities to improve reliability and reduce cost.
• Manage involvement in multiple projects at various stages.
• Present your project and results to the engineering team at the end of the internship.
