Job summary

Ontic Engineering & Manufacturing Inc. – Chatsworth, CA seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to develop and sustain aerospace electrical/electromechanical products. You will own defined design assignments, create CAD models, and ensure manufacturability and lifecycle support.

Responsibilities include solving design challenges, managing obsolescence, supporting prototypes, and collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers and other engineering teams. Travel ~50% required for 18 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electronics, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in a design engineering or technical support role in a design/manufacturing environment.
• Experience creating or maintaining CAD models, drawings and controlled technical data.
• Ability to interpret drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing constraints with strong problem solving.
• Experience investigating issues and applying root cause and corrective action methods.
• Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools and configuration management.
• Experience supporting NPI or product sustainment and obsolescence-driven redesign is a plus.
• Willingness to travel ~50% for 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify electrical/electromechanical product designs to meet requirements.
• Investigate performance, obsolescence and component availability issues and propose solutions.
• Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and BOMs with proper data control.
• Support NPI, prototypes and evaluations, translating requirements into manufacturing plans.
• Perform root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers and other teams to resolve design-for-manufacture challenges.
• Support products through lifecycle from introduction to sustainment and retirement.
• Travel ~50% for 18 months to support engineering needs.
