Job summary

Safran in Lancaster, NY is seeking a Design Engineer to support gaseous, mask and chemical oxygen equipment development for aerospace safety systems. You will transfer concepts to production, perform design and analysis, and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (MS preferred) with 4-7 years of design engineering experience; proficiency in SolidWorks and MATLAB/Simulink is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent; MS preferred.
• 4–7 years of design engineering experience or equivalent.
• Experience in New Product Development is preferred.
• Strong understanding of engineering testing methods and ability to document results.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise designs (Interface, Detail, Assembly) and compute dimensions and tolerances.
• Decide on drawings, materials, and interaction of parts within the system.
• Perform design analyses using engineering principles and industry standards.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality and Project Engineers on changes and collaboration needs.
• Develop verification/validation plans and compliance methods per specs.
• Present technical data to internal and external customers.
• Ensure documentation of technical data and communication of results.
