Job summary

Allied Universal in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Security Officer Full Time Access Governance. You will manage access points, verify credentials, monitor visitors, and conduct patrols at an aerospace/defense location, delivering strong customer service.

This role requires a guard card preferred, 18+ for unarmed roles (21+ for armed), a high school diploma, and a background check with a drug screen where permitted. Pay is $18.50/hour with evening shifts and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Guard Card/License preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background investigation will be conducted under applicable laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and vendors at an aerospace and defense location by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and authorization, maintain visitor records, and direct authorized individuals in accordance with established access requirements.
• Operate access control systems, surveillance equipment, and communication devices; report irregularities and security concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with emergency responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, restricted areas, the facility, and perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.
