Job summary

Firefly Aerospace is seeking a Composites Machining Manufacturing Engineer II to develop and scale manufacturing processes for advanced composite aerospace structures. You will own machining processes from development through production, support CFRP and honeycomb configurations, and optimize CNC and robotic machining with Mastercam, Robotmaster, and KUKA systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of aerospace manufacturing experience with composite machining or advanced structures.
• Strong understanding of carbon fiber composites and machining challenges.
• Hands-on experience with CNC routing, trimming, drilling, milling, or other machining processes.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and interpreting drawings/GD&T.
• Experience programming or supporting 3-axis and 5-axis CNC routers or machining centers.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of machining processes for aerospace composites.
• Develop and optimize machining strategies for CFRP, sandwich structures, and honeycomb cores.
• Create and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for multi-axis equipment.
• Support robotic machining processes and robot programming (Robotmaster, KUKA).
• Troubleshoot robotic machining issues and ensure process capability.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering to improve manufacturability and tolerance strategies.
