Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, KS, seeks an M04A repair technician to perform professional repair work with independence, focusing on composite parts and assemblies. The position reports to technical leadership and requires working from blueprints, using precision tools and shop math.

Responsibilities include planning, advising management, coordinating work programs, and fabricating/inspecting composite components. A union environment, post-offer testing, and a total rewards package are offered.

Qualifications

• All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternate work weeks.
• A post-offer vision examination is required to confirm applicants are able to perform the tasks of the position.

Responsibilities

• Initiates or participates in short-range and long-range planning, making independent decisions on repair policies and procedures within an overall program.
• Gives technical advice to management and operating departments.
• May take detailed technical responsibility for product development and provision of specialized engineering systems, facilities and functions.
• Coordinates work programs.
• Direct or advise on use of equipment and material.
• Fabricate, assemble, form and inspect composite parts, tools and assemblies.
• Work from blueprints, work orders, documents, verbal and electronic information.
• Verify work performed is per work instructions and meets process and/or engineering specifications.
• Work within a team and independently to build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composite materials.
• Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation where applicable.
• Work on platforms up to ten feet above the ground
• Work in confined spaces
• Work overhead
• Use hand pressure and small tools to form and contour lay-up
• Ability to use tools such as scissors, knives, pushing tools, markers, and other small tools
• Maintain a clean working environment and clean as you go
• May be required to perform touch-up and finishing applications.
• Ensure equipment and tool certification occurs per procedure.
• Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work assignments.
• Sand utilizing pneumatic air tools and/or bond assembly tools to obtain smooth surfaces.
