Job summary

Composite Factory in Mooresville, NC seeks a Design Engineer to complete a hands-on rotation before permanent placement in Engineering. You will create 3D CATIA models, layouts, and detailed production drawings for composite components to support manufacturing and customer requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years design experience, strong communication, and collaboration with suppliers, customers, and production teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years of design engineering experience.
• Proficient in CATIA software for composite design and understanding tolerances in manufacturing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for collaboration with teams, vendors, and customers.
• Strong MS Office skills for documentation and project management.
• Able to prioritize tasks, manage time, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenges.
• Positive, can-do attitude and commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement.
• U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident for ITAR compliance.

Responsibilities

• Complete departmental rotation to learn CF's processes and final placement in Engineering.
• Develop accurate 3D models, preliminary layouts, and laminating production details.
• Prepare engineering drawings and documentation for composite manufacturing and customer data.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve engineering challenges.
• Analyze and resolve design and manufacturing issues to improve efficiency and quality.
• Stay updated on emerging composite manufacturing technologies.
