Job summary

CONFIDENTIAL CLIENT seeks an Aerospace & Defense CNC Machine Shop Manager to lead a precision machining operation supporting aerospace, defense, and government customers. This hands-on leadership role covers shop operations, CNC programming, production planning, estimating, quality compliance, and team performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in aerospace/defense manufacturing, 10+ years in operations leadership, and strong skills in Mastercam,

Qualifications

• 15+ years of aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing experience.
• 10+ years in manufacturing operations or production leadership.
• 5+ years of program or project management with cost, schedule, and performance responsibility.
• Hands-on CNC machining operations knowledge and shop management.
• Proficiency with Mastercam, G-code, CAD/CAM, and production planning.
• Experience preparing estimates, quotations, and production plans from drawings.
• Strong understanding of AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, and DFARS compliance.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems in manufacturing.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings into manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee aerospace/defense CNC machining operations and shop performance.
• Lead CNC programming, production planning, and manufacturing estimates.
• Ensure quality compliance and continuous improvement across the shop.
• Develop and mentor machinists and programmers to meet schedules and costs.
