Job summary

TekPro in Downers Grove seeks an NC Programming Engineer to develop and optimize CNC programs for VMCs and lathes, translating blueprints and GD&T into precise toolpaths. You will select tooling, define speeds and feeds, and work with machinists and engineers to improve processes on the shop floor.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, on-machine support, and ongoing continuous improvement in a high-mix, high-precision aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a machining environment.
• Deep understanding of milling, turning, and multi-axis methods.
• Blueprint/GD&T fluency.
• Experience with CAM software: Mastercam, NX CAM, Fusion 360, GibbsCAM (or similar).
• Hands-on machining experience strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for VMCs and lathes.
• Convert blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T into precise toolpaths.
• Choose tooling, determine speeds/feeds, and set strategies for efficiency.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and production to refine processes.
• Provide on-machine support: troubleshoot and validate programs.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cycle times and improve quality.
