Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Colorado Manufacturing in Colorado Springs seeks a CNC Machinist to program, setup, and operate CNC mills and lathes. The role requires reading engineering drawings and performing precision work on aerospace components, with overtime as needed.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of CNC experience, familiarity with fixed gauges and hand tools, and must be able to lift 35+ pounds. US Citizenship and security clearance are required for consideration.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 3-5 years of precision machining on CNC Mills & Lathes.
• Intermediate knowledge of shop math.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic work instructions for fabrication.
• General knowledge of hand and power tools (incl. deburring tools, wrenches).
• Proficiency with precision measuring and fixed gauge equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
• Must lift a minimum of 35+ pounds unassisted.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• US Citizenship and clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings and set up CNC lathes (primarily) with backup on mills.
• Set up and run machines on diverse operations converting raw materials into precision parts.
• Use fixtures or gauges to verify dimensional tolerance.
• Experience with large aerospace components; 5-axis/mill-turn is a plus.
• Adapt to multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Perform other duties and available for overtime as necessary.
