Role Summary
Our precision manufacturing facility in Glastonbury, CT, is seeking a skilled CMM Programmer to manage the creation, validation, and upkeep of inspection routines for aerospace and high-precision parts. You will collaborate across Quality, Engineering, and Operations departments to guarantee that all components strictly adhere to engineering blueprints and quality benchmarks.
Core Duties
- Design, verify, and document CMM inspection routines utilizing PC-DMIS software.
- Generate inspection protocols by interpreting CAD models, customer requirements, and technical drawings.
- Execute both online and offline programming for CMM systems.
- Manage the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CMM hardware to ensure consistent performance.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections including first article, in-process, receiving, and final quality checks.
- Facilitate AS9102 First Article Inspection processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Validate that CMM programs align precisely with established engineering specifications.
- Establish effective measurement strategies and sampling plans to optimize inspection efficiency.
- Utilize various metrology tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, and optical comparators to verify part integrity.
- Analyze dimensional discrepancies to support root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives.
- Maintain thorough quality records, control plans, and inspection documentation.
- Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to refine and improve inspection methodologies.
- Mentor quality inspectors and CMM operators by providing expert technical guidance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical schooling is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional CMM programming experience within a manufacturing setting.
- Practical expertise in operating and programming CMM systems with PC-DMIS.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and GD&T standards.
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex CAD models and engineering documentation.
- Background in the inspection of high-tolerance machined assemblies and components.
- Familiarity with dimensional data analysis and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Competency in quality documentation software and the Microsoft Office suite.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working within aerospace, defense, or other strictly regulated manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems.
- Understanding of AS9102 First Article Inspection standards.
- Experience utilizing CAD platforms such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or Creo.
- Relevant quality-focused or GD&T certifications.
- Professional credentials such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
- Experience with advanced metrology and automated inspection technologies.
