Job summary

Wichita State University’s Engineering Design and Mod Team is seeking a student assistant in Wichita, KS. The role involves supporting design tasks, detailing airframe structures, and CAD work in CATIA and 3DX.

The position expects a student pursuing mechanical or aerospace engineering (Sophomore or higher preferred) with strong CAD experience and solid writing/communication skills. It is a part-time on-site role supporting engineering projects.

Qualifications

• Working toward a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Sophomore or higher preferred.
• Experience and interest in 3D CAD tools (3DExperience, CATIA V5, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, etc.)
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Excellent time management, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated and driven to produce high quality work on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Detail modeling of airframe structural/system details.
• Drawing creation using dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Modeling parts from existing scans and drawings.
• Execute changes to CATIA and 3DX models, drawings and other documents in support of the product and engineering team.
