Job summary

Gauss Management Research & Engineering (GMRE Inc.) is seeking a Buyer / Procurement Specialist to manage end-to-end purchasing for defense and aerospace programs. You will handle requisitions, cost/lead-time tradeoffs, supplier selection, and ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS and export-control requirements.

The role requires coordinating with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Inventory, Finance, and Program Management to maintain material availability and audit-ready procurement

Qualifications

• Three or more years of purchasing, procurement, or supply-chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related field preferred.
• Experience buying electrical interconnect, wire-harness, aerospace components and services preferred.
• FAR/DFARS procurement, ITAR/EAR controls familiarity preferred.
• Experience with manufacturing ERP/MRP and data analysis dashboards preferred.
• Professional certification or coursework such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review requisitions, BOMs, drawings, and specifications before soliciting or placing orders.
• Prepare and issue RFIs/requests for quotes; document supplier selection and requirements.
• Negotiate price, lead time, delivery terms, and other commercial terms.
• Create and administer accurate purchase orders in the ERP/MRP system with terms and flow downs.
• Manage complete PO lifecycle including acknowledgments, Expedites, changes, and closeout.
• Maintain current promise dates and purchasing data to support production schedules.
