Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking an Aeromechanical Engineering Intern to support the development of airframe structures and aeromechanical components for UAV systems. You will work with experienced engineers on concept through prototyping, using SolidWorks for 3D models and drawings, and participating in lab testing and design reviews.

The program provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to ITAR-compliant defense projects, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, problem solving, and practical

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
• Exposure to CAD tools such as SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assembly design.
• Foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles (statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materials).
• Interest in air vehicles, robotics, or electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of airframe structures and aeromechanical components for UAV systems.
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Support basic mechanical analysis with guidance from senior engineers (kinematics, thermodynamics, stress).
• Participate in prototype fabrication, 3D printing, and lab testing.
• Help create and revise engineering drawings and BOMs per industry standards.
• Contribute to technical presentations and informal design reviews.
