Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an Aeromechanical Engineering Intern to support development of systems for military and commercial platforms. You will work with an IPT of engineers on design, prototyping, and testing of mechanical systems for aerial platforms.

You will gain hands‑on experience from concept through prototyping, applying industry best practices in a fast‑paced environment while collaborating with senior teammates and contributing to meaningful projects.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Experience with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assembly design
• Foundational understanding of statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials
• Interest in air vehicles, robotics, or electromechanical systems
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
• Willingness to learn and contribute to team efforts

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of airframe structures and aeromechanical components for UAV systems
• Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks
• Support basic mechanical analysis with guidance from senior engineers
• Participate in prototype fabrication, 3D printing, and lab testing
• Help create and revise drawings, BOMs, and documentation per industry standards
• Contribute to technical presentations and design reviews
• Learn about engineering trade-offs, material selection, and system integration
• Support design improvements and troubleshooting on current programs
• Perform other duties as assigned to support goals
