UNSW Sydney invites applications for a Research Associate (Level A) in aeroacoustics to contribute to the Flow Noise Group’s research efforts. The role focuses on measurement, prediction and analysis of flow-generated noise within a collaborative academic setting.

The successful candidate will work on defined projects, advance their research expertise and engage with publications and conferences, reporting to the group lead in a dynamic university environment.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in experimental aeroacoustics, turbulence measurements and/or wind tunnel testing.
  • Experience in high-speed data acquisition and signal processing.
  • Desirable: experience in numerical modelling tools for fluid flow and acoustic analysis.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders and students.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to research efforts in aeroacoustics and develop research expertise.
  • Support measurement, prediction and analysis of flow-generated noise.
  • Be based with the Flow Noise Group in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at UNSW Sydney.
  • Report to Manuj Awasthi and have no direct reports.
