Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Summer Intern to contribute to aerodynamic development within GM Motorsports. Work may involve CFD, testing, automation, data processing, and ML/AI applications for engineering.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers and leaders across Cadillac Formula 1, Chevrolet NASCAR, INDYCAR, and IMSA programs. Hybrid work arrangement with Milford, Michigan-based operations; start dates in May/June 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuing graduate degree in physics, math, aerospace, mechanical, or computational science.
• Planning to graduate after September 2027 or later.
• Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week in summer.
• Experience with CFD surrogate models or data-driven performance prediction.
• Strong fundamentals in aerodynamics, CFD, ML, or scientific computing.
• Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve CFD workflows from CAD prep to reporting.
• Create tools for wind-tunnel testing, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Develop ML or surrogate models to predict aerodynamic performance.
• Build AI-enabled tools to boost engineering productivity.
• Collaborate with engineers to define requirements and document methods.
