Job summary

Epitec is seeking an experienced Aerodynamic Clay Master Modeler to support fabrication, modification, and restoration of hybrid clay, rapid prototype, and composite aerodynamic test models in Allen Park, MI. This highly hands-on role requires precision, confidentiality, and strong tooling skills.

You will collaborate with engineering and wind tunnel teams to prepare models for testing, perform CNC clay milling, and manage 3D-printed components and CAD reviews.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automotive clay modeling experience with aerodynamic surface sculpting.
• Hands-on clay modeling and operation of CNC clay milling equipment.
• Experience modifying vehicle components (grilles, mirrors, spoilers, underbody shields, tires).
• Experience fabricating parts using clay, foam core, metal/aluminum, rapid prototyping, or composites.
• Experience with rapid prototype part finishing and post-processing of 3D-printed parts.
• Ability to read and review CAD files for modeling work.
• Ability to operate CNC fabrication equipment including laser/plasma tables.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-precision automotive clay modeling and aerodynamic surface sculpting.
• Prepare vehicles and models for wind tunnel testing, including installation/removal of test hardware.
• Execute vehicle component changes involving aerodynamics components.
• Fabricate prototype parts using clay, foam core, metal, rapid prototyping, or composites.
• Operate CNC clay milling equipment to produce/refine surface geometry.
• Finish, post-process, and assemble 3D-printed components.
• Review CAD files and geometry references used in modeling.
• Use digital scanning equipment to capture model surfaces.
• Support hardware and model changes during wind tunnel tests.
• Work independently under testing schedules while coordinating with engineers.
