Job summary

DroneDeploy is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to guide a large, distributed team building the world’s leading reality capture platform. You’ll define success metrics, ship strategic initiatives, and partner with product to shape the roadmap.

You will stay hands-on with the codebase, drive AI-enabled workflows, mentor engineers into senior roles, and obsess about quality and reliability while representing Aerial to executives and customers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience and 5+ years leading engineers, including senior and staff-level ICs.
• Track record of delivering complex multi-quarter programs with clear success metrics.
• Proven ability to strengthen teams and grow engineers into leaders.
• Hands-on technical depth across web, backend, and cloud systems; comfortable with code and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team to deliver large, business-critical, technical initiatives through to completion. Define what success looks like up front and show it in the numbers.
• Make a strong team stronger by focusing a senior, distributed team on high-impact problems and growing engineers into technical leaders.
• Evolve how the team works with AI; lead with AI in your own work and create AI-heavy pods for planning, prototyping, debugging, and shipping.
• Own the Aerial experience by partnering with Product to shape and sequence the roadmap and own the customer outcome end-to-end.
• Stay hands-on with PRs, prototypes, and debugging alongside the team; set technical direction from architecture to platform investment.
• Own quality and reliability through metrics and observability so issues surface before customers see them.
• Represent Aerial to leadership and customers, including site visits.
